What should I do? I got a $500 offer on Hairball, but I plan on submitting it to the Maxgames competition where I have a GOOD CHANCE to get $1000 dollars plus possibly more. I'm leaning toward the maxgames competition, but any other comments?

I am going to enter this contest and my game is going to get a 3.7 at the minimum. Hope that helps you in your decision. I've played hairball on FGL and I would agree with you in the fact that you have a good chance for the $1000. Wish you the best.
But you also have the chance to make so much more with individual sponsorships. Sending out emails to all of the sponsors always works great.
True... I'm probably waiting to the end of the month, I have a pretty good potential score for this, so I really want to see if It would be possible to beat out any other competition this month. If there are like 16 4.58 scoring games, I'd tell Joe at MaxGames to take me off and take the $500 and run. But until then, we wait and see.
You've pretty much already set your self in stone to be in the MaxGames now.
But putting your game on his site, he has added his logo to it, and put it on his site.
It will begin popping up on random sites all over the web with the MaxGames logo. No sponsor will buy a game that has already distributed itself all over the place.

I just submitted one of the two games I am entering for the MaxGames contest. It received a 3.80 and a daily 3rd place. I really like Hairball, and I think it can get around a 3.80 if submitted correctly.

I tried out the hairball game.
Its annoying how you have to press ctrl every time you die, space to start the game and enter to get to the next level.
Simplify it and make it one button, enter button I suggest.
Also, I found it quite difficult but its probably just me.
Anyway, great game.

Joe at maxgames put it on his site immediately, so i had no chance to even think about the offer basically. He cancelled it after he saw it on Maxgames. I'm really pissed about how underrated it is, in my opinion, it deserves at least a 3.7
